Unity Totem

Light, metal, and clay tile. Unrealized (rendered in 2023).

Unity Totem was created as a proposal for the University Christian Church Endowment for the Arts, in which I was a finalist. As a public work, it’s meant to communicate the hope of reunification, and the ability for our wounds of division to be mended but not covered up, as the depth of unity can be richer and deeper after reconciled conflict. It references the architecture of the University of Texas, the geography of the Texas Hill Country, and the nearby installation, Ellsworth Kelly’s Austin.

Feel free to look at the full proposals, Phase 1, and Phase 2, which implemented revisions in response to feedback from the committee.
